Although the white PVC antenna was NOT designed for mobile use and is not waterproof, I mounted one on my truck to see how it would handle the winds and constant bouncing. It was mounted on the rear of my truck since July of 2007 until April 20, 2008. I took it off since it was discoloring badly. I was concerned that it was affected by the sun and was not safe any longer. I "tapped" the antenna body on the driveway and it SHATTERED!! I have replaced it with a BLACK antenna on April 21st and here is the new picture of that antenna. The black pipe is not affected by sunlight. It is now mid September 2009 and the black body antenna seems to be doing well and tunes the ham bands using my LG100 auto tuner. |
