Tuning is as simple as changing the location of the wander lead. Different installations will have varying affects on SWR but you should test the antenna with an analyzer or SWR bridge to ensure a low SWR with your installation. Of the two I have built so far and tested, they both are 1:1.0 at 28.680MHz when the wander lead is NOT touching the coil.
When using a tuner, slide the H&L to the bottom of the coil and then move it to get the loudest noise on the receiver. Then use the tuner for the best match at the frequency you mean to use. This antenna is NOT designed nor meant for operation on a vehicle in motion.
